Play Therapy

Children may not always have the words to express their feelings; play therapy can help them work through their emotions, especially when they have experienced a trauma.  Play therapy also helps children to physically and tangibly work through the dynamics within their body, mind and spirit, by playing out their feelings and making sense of their larger world.

I work with children ranging from birth to young adults using art, play and sand trays. When working with infants, parents are involved and this work is to help support the parents’ bond and attachment with their child. My work with children three years and older also involves parents and takes place in the clinical playroom.

The clinical playroom is designed to provide children with sense of security and safe place to work through their difficult emotions, with the support of their therapist, while enhancing their self-esteem, and building their sense of self control and mastering their emotions.

Mindful Parenting

Parenthood is a simultaneously magical and challenging life journey. There are tools to make this special time easier, and I can help by nurturing you so you can be present for your child. I specialize in guiding parents in understanding their child’s unique personalities, temperaments, and developmental stages. I utilize the parent’s own parenting strength to foster a connection, and build a more cohesive relationship, strengthening bonds  and support mutual respect.
